²³ “Say to Rehoboam son of Solomon king of Judah, to all Judah and Benjamin, and to the rest of the people,

⁵ eighty men who had shaved off their beards,^(A) torn their clothes^(B) and cut^(C) themselves came from Shechem,^(D) Shiloh^(E) and Samaria,^(F) bringing grain offerings and incense^(G) with them to the house of the Lord.^(H)

¹¹ In front of them stood seventy elders^(A) of Israel, and Jaazaniah son of Shaphan was standing among them. Each had a censer^(B) in his hand, and a fragrant cloud of incense^(C) was rising.^(D)
